AMLIG FOR INDAY is a community-rooted cervical cancer prevention initiative jointly carried by the municipalities of Carles, Estancia, and Lemery in Iloilo Province. United by a shared commitment to protect, nurture, and care for women, the initiative brings accessible HPV-DNA testing, timely treatment, and strong referral systems closer to communities—especially those most at risk.
The project is implemented by Cancer Warriors Foundation, Inc., in close collaboration with the Department of Health (DOH) Disease Prevention and Control Bureau – Cancer Control Division, the DOH Center for Health Development (CHD) Region IV, and the Iloilo Provincial Health Office, together with the Municipal Local Government Units of Carles, Estancia, and Lemery.
UNITAID and Expertise France serve as development partners, supporting the initiative under the broader framework of the SUCCESS Project. Technical advisory and mentoring support are provided by the Technical Advisor to Expertise France (SUCCESS-FAP) and the Western Visayas Medical Center (WVMC), ensuring clinical quality, systems strengthening, and continuity of care.
The Meaning Behind the Name
The name AMLIG FOR INDAY is deeply grounded in local language, culture, and purpose.
“Amlig” is a Hiligaynon word meaning to care for, to protect, to handle with responsibility, and to nurture. It conveys guardianship—looking after something precious and ensuring it is kept safe. The word is often used when referring to caring for people, safeguarding resources, or protecting life itself.
“Inday” is a term of endearment widely used in the Visayas to refer to a girl or young woman—meaning dear, beloved, or darling.
Together, AMLIG FOR INDAY speaks of protecting and nurturing women, affirming their value, dignity, and right to accessible, quality health care. It reflects the heart of HPV-DNA testing: early detection, prevention, and care—before cervical cancer can take a life.
Why HPV-DNA Testing Matters
Cervical cancer remains one of the most preventable yet deadly cancers among Filipino women. HPV-DNA testing is a highly effective screening tool that detects high-risk HPV infections long before cancer develops, enabling timely intervention.

Scope of the AMLIG FOR INDAY Project
AMLIG FOR INDAY is more than a screening activity—it is a comprehensive, systems-based intervention that includes:
1. Capacity Building

Women needing further evaluation or treatment are referred to Western Visayas Medical Center (WVMC) in Iloilo City, with support from available government assistance programs, including but not limited to:

MAIFIP (Medical Assistance for Indigent and Financially Incapacitated Patients) – DOH

Cancer Assistance Fund (CAF) and other national or local aid mechanisms
These mechanisms help ensure that financial barriers do not prevent women from receiving life-saving care.
Timeline and Impact
The AMLIG FOR INDAY Project officially began in November 2024 and will run for one full year, with the goal of reaching and protecting up to 17,000 women across the three municipalities.
